Save Money: Save The Environment: Use The Sun!

Solar energy is extremely beneficial to the planet. This energy source will be around for a long time. But, you need to figure out if it is financially wise to invest in such an alternative energy source. This article will show you all you need to know.

You can increase the power you generate by adding more panels and by choosing panels that are most efficient. Therefore, determine the number of panels you need. You could actually save money by purchasing a small number of efficient panels.

The efficiency of solar panels depends on their density. Higher density panels will run you more because they produce more energy. Compare a variety of panel densities prior to making a purchase decision.

A great option for solar electricity would be a sun-tracking panel system. This follows the way the sun moves all the time. These cost more than fixed panel systems, but the extra energy created will make it worthwhile.

Take the time to look at the numbers before deciding to invest in solar energy. The cost of solar panels may vary from area to area, and this may affect the amount of savings you will enjoy. If you rush into purchasing a solar power system, you may be unpleasantly surprised.

Tax credits are often available for users of solar energy. These rebates can reduce your installation costs by almost thirty percent. Check the Internet to learn more.

Two of the most popular ways to cut heating costs include installing solar water heaters and solar panels. Photo-voltraic panels work best in areas that get 5 hours of direct sunlight daily. One of the major costs of a pool is heat, and solar heating can greatly reduce this cost.

University to transition to new academic structure Lake Superior State University will begin transitioning to a new academic structure next semester after the institution’s Board of Trustees approved the proposed changes Friday. During a special meeting board members — who were participating by telephone — signed onto a plan developed by President Peter Mitchell with help from multiple other sources on campus. Mitchell said the new structure should enhance collaboration on campus, make it easier to reach out to prospective students, and improve retention of current students. “We believe (it) will be more attractive to students looking at Lake Sate,” he said. “We also think it will be clearer for them to navigate how they go through Lake State.” The new arrangement will feature five academic colleges, replacing the current system of two colleges containing 12 schools. Mitchell said the rearranged colleges will be better oriented to student and career interests, and they should allow students to switch between courses of study more easily. Administrators will begin implementing the new structure when LSSU’s next semester begins in January, but the changes will not entirely go into effect until next fall. Mitchell, whose one-year presidential contract includes some strategic planning work, created a first draft of the proposal in October. He said that was followed by multiple meetings and the development of several more drafts. “Each time I met with faculty individually, small groups, departments, had three open forums to talk about it with the faculty,” Mitchell said. “Faculty were outstanding in their contribution of ideas to refine it.

We’ve been saying for months and months that you have to be ready to go. What is happening to the caribou right now is really, really wrong.” Earlier this month, Ontario Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry announced it will soon move some of the caribou to the Slate Islands, which lie about 130 kilometres northwest of Michipicoten Island in Lake Superior. MNR originally brought the caribou to Michipicoten Island from the Slate Islands in 1982. But the fate of Lake Superior caribou has changed since then. The herd on the Slates now is "sexually extirpated," meaning there are no cows or calves left to breed. And the herd on Michipicoten faces extinction due to predation by a healthy wolf pack that crossed an ice bridge to the island during the extra harsh winter of 2014, which allowed Lake Superior to freeze over. The decision to transport the threatened caribou off of Michipicoten Island came as a result of public pressure, as well as lobbying efforts by Michipicoten First Nation. The Michipicoten Island caribou herd, which began with a group of eight animals and expanded to a herd of about 680, thrived from 1982 until the winter of 2013/14. That is when four wolves made the 15-kilometre crossing on Lake Superior ice over to the island. The healthy wolf pack has grown to almost 20 and now caribou have declined almost to the point of extirpation. LaPiano said that as of Dec. 1, 2016, there were about 116 caribou on the island. Between then and last March, 31, wolves killed a rate of 0.41 caribou per day according to collar data, which is 50 caribou. That leaves about 66 animals as of last April 1. Last March, MNRF collared 27 more animals. As of Dec.
